What is the name of your state?NC
Lets say they do take me to court and get a judgement and a sherriff comes out to take things from me to pay off the debt. This is not a community property state so the household furnishings that he bought before we got married can they take those as well.

Let me answer this way.... they (the sheriff/constable/creditor) can take ANY non-exempt assets that they find.... and it is up to you to claim exemption. Some deputy's I work with will take the debtors word on the scene, some won't (and force the debtor to claim in court).
