Another Sec Dep ?

What is the name of your state? Maryland

I am the landlord of a home in MD. My tenants signed a one year lease 2/1/07, paid a $2000 security deposit and are now interested in renewing their lease. I have an automatic renewal provision- it goes month to month but they want to sign for another year.

Are they expected to pay another $2000 sec dep since they're signing a new lease? That kind of sounds a bit much to me though. Since nothing is changing, I don't think so, but, I'm not sure. If I do ask them for another deposit, there will be issues, guaranteed.

No. You continue to hold their orginal deposit.
