What is the name of your state? LA

We just bought a new house, and we were there painting today, and our new neighbor came by, at first was pleasant, then started with things the prior owners were supposed to do, such as build a privacy fence, cut down trees, and clean up the yard(they left a LOT of JUNK)

First and formost was the pine trees. there is a row of 10 at the front of the property growing straight up, and all healthy. They are about 15 feet on our side of the property line. She has a Building, that is used as a personal workshop and storage that is built about 15 feet on her side of the property line.

She came over to say that she was concerned that if another storm (like Katrina) were to come through they would fall on her building, she says " I would hate for those trees to fall on my building and you have to pay for it"

From reading here I found that "acts of God" such as hurricanes, are not the property owners responsiabilty.

But can the neighbor demand that I cut the 10 trees?

Can I be held liable for the trees falling if they are healhty?

If we tell her that she is welcome to cut down the trees at HER own expense, and it falls on her building are we responsiable?

Thanks in advance.

We just had the property surveyed when we bought the house so yes they are indeed on our side.

None of this is any of her concern

You are correct.

She can demand anything but, you do not have to do it.

Can I be held liable for the trees falling if they are healhty?

No.

If we tell her that she is welcome to cut down the trees at HER own expense, and it falls on her building are we responsiable?

Possibly.

Thanks in advance.

Since they are your trees and they are healthy, there is no reason to have them cut down unless YOU want to cut them down. Your neighbor can not dictate what plantings you may have on your property.
