answering suit in Ga. superior court

georgia, I have been served a suit on contract in the superior court.
I must file an answer and I have no idea how to do this. The amount is for $8000.00 and I don't feel this is just. I spoke with an attorney and he said that the filing of an answer was not "rocket science" and he thought I could do it and get a day in court. How do I answer this and friday 10-01-04 is the last day to answer. Please help
