I was wondering if anyone's familiar with restraining orders. How public are such orders? What happens after the time period for RO's are up? Can you have the records destroyed?

My response:

Restraining Orders are public records, like any other court files and records - - unless a judge has, from the outset, sealed the file and subsequent orders. After the R/O time is up, like any other file, the R/O is placed into archives, and only a researcher with specific intent to find out, will ever know about it. No, the files are not destroyed, except when all papers within the file are placed on Microfilm.
