What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Iowa

I am subleasing a room in an apartment for the summer. When I first checked out the place I couldn't have been happier, mostly because the other two tenants were attractive females, but also because there was no visible damages and the place was very clean. I move in a month later and the place is trashed, there are holes in the walls in a few places and in the door to my room. There are other various damages elsewhere too. I took pictures when I moved in, but the thing is I took over the previous tenants deposit when I moved in. Does this resolve her of all damages? Am I now responsible for all damages since the beginning of the lease? I asked the property management company about it and all they said was send them the pictures that I took. What should I do about this?

you will get your security back when the lease is over and everyone moves out.

you have the proof its not your damage, if it comes down to a lawsuit.
