What is the name of your state? ky

I know this lady who had an apartment fire, grease fire, and the landlord replaced the mircrowave, kitchen blinds, kitchen over head light, and painted the downstairs. I am thinking he replaced 2 cabinets too.

He proclaimed with contract estiments that there were 10,000 dollars worth of damage.

He told the renter it was 10,000 and he was suppose to replace the stove and fridge and he did not. He took a stove out of another apartment and put it in the burn one and never replaced the fridge at all. There wasn't 10,000 dollars worth of damage i saw it myself and i know there wasnt. I took pictures of the place and also of the fridge which had a bad place on it to make it bow out on the sides, but he is claiming he put a new one in the apartment.

Now the Insurance company is trying to sue the renters.. can anyone enlighten me on this please.

renters + fire = liability

landlord + repairs = damages

insurance co. pays damages, sues renters.
Insurance proves liability on part of renters and amount of damages,
renters pay.

It's really fairly simple.

Fair gave a really good explanation. Renters insurance is about $10/month. Had your friend purchased it, s/he would have been covered.
