We signed a lease in september 2000 in san diego california, for a year. We are trying to get out of the lease so we can move back to Illinois. When we looked at it the lease is written to end in october 2000. We know it is a typo but can we get out of our lease becasue it says it ended? Please help, we talked to our landlord and they said we have to pay three months rent to get out of the lease. We can't afford that and we really want to move. Thanks

Does your lease also give a term and a commencement date, in addition to an expiration date?

Does it specify what happens after the lease expires? Does it allow the lease to turn into a month-to-month rental agreement? Check the exact wording of that clause.
