In a previous message posted by me (see link below), I described how I settled a notice to quit possession raised by the apartment manager by reaching a new agreement whereby I agreed to pay an increased rent for continued occupation on monthly basis.

Something disgusting happened today---dispite that the manager had agreed almost three weeks ago to stop the summary process after the new agreement was reached, I got a new notice from the court delivered by the marshall today. According to the marshall, this is the second stage of the eviction process, which requires my presence at the court by a certain date specified on the document. This is certainly a mistake, a damn stupid mistake caused solely by the manager. So I calmed myself down and talked to the manager nicely in person. It turned out such a mistake was caused by her failing to update my tenant record (there should be a hardcopy of the agreement in the record) after the new agreement was reached!! I insisted she call her lawyer and ask him to drop the whole case, which she agreed but then said the number was busy. I suspected she did not actually call at all so I called the number using my phone. It went through. The manager now had to talk to the lawyer. After the phone call, the manager orally agreed to provide me with a written confirmation that the case is dropped. The manager certainly lacks professionalism in all this, which caused this much mess. I even wonder what I need to do to ensure that everything is ok from now on. I cannot put any trust in either her or the lawyer based on what had happened. Should I send them a registered memorandum about all this and request such a confirmation be mailed to me? Should I contact the court where this case is supposed to be heard? Or, even further, shall I hire a lawyer of my own and sue them for their fault (I don't intend to do this as this could be too much for what happened). After all, I really do not want to see any bit of this ugly mess any longer. That stupid manager is nearly harassing me!

Q: Should I send them a registered memorandum about all this and request such a confirmation be mailed to me?

A: Yes, and keep a copy of everything.

Q: Should I contact the court where this case is supposed to be heard?

A: Go get a copy of the entire file at the courthouse. You don't want a default judgment sneaking up on you. Don't trust the lawyer. Be there when the court sets something on this case.

Thanks for your advice.
Still confused. On what basis does the court decide whether to hear/drop a case? Should I actively contact the court regarding this? When making such contact, what type of document should I provide? Thanks for further advice. I am busy and really do not want to spend too much further time on this mess.
