What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

Larry from NJ

To whom it may concern,

I was laid off and 4-29-08 due to reconstruction of the office. I had a telephone interview with unemployment on 6-4-08 and they told me I was entitled to $161.00 per week for unemployment. Two days later I received two items from unemployment. The first one stating I was entitled to $161 per week and the other said I did not make enough money in the calendar year.

My employer was okay with giving me unemployment. I have an appeal on 7-11-08. Can you give me any ideas or suggestions on how an appeal works? What do they arrived at their decisions? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The employer does not decide whether you get unemployment or not.

Either you earned enough in the look-back period to qualify or you did not. If you did, then there's no problem. If you did not, all the appeals in the world will not give you benefits. It's a black and white issue.
