wisconsin- my brother was told that he did not need to appear at the hearing (he lives in nyc and hearing was in wisconsin). however, he was not told that he should or even could call in. the plaintiff won, of course, since he wasn't there to dispute anything. is he allowed to appeal the judgement?

He needs to call the courthouse that holds the judgement asap. Who told him he didn't need to show? The courthouse will tell him the rules regarding appeals. I believe appeals can be filed w/in 30 days. But he needs to check with the specific one asap. For the record, I'm not an attorney, but have learned a little about small claims. :p good luck
