Ok so I hope I am in the right place and can get some help or insight here. Back in December I got a brand new Playstation 4 from Freedom Furniture along with a couple other items, all of this is being rented per se. These guys get you a bank to loan you the money to get these products so I guess it is more a loan type issue maybe, not sure, let me explain. So this Playstation 4 system, twice within a 4 or 5 month period had video problems where there was no picture being shown so twice we had to send it in to Sony for repair. These incidents both happened with a 2 month period too. The second time we went it in, we got a refurbished system sent back to us. So here is my problem, I do not feel I should have to pay for something that is no longer in my possession first off. Second, in the least, since I no longer have the system from them in my possession, in the least I would be willing to pay a discounted amount because um, this system is NOT new, it was broken, god knows how or why and was fixed by Sony and then sent to us. It is USED!!! No way in hell should I have to pay full price for a used anything!! So of course the manager of the store wants to act all stupid and dumb with me when I asked him if he personally would pay full price for something that was used and he said yes, sorry but I call bs! No way he would not. He was just wanting to justify his claim that I should pay full price for a used system! So what are my options here?? Do I have a legal right to say I will not pay full price for this or anything more at all because I no longer have the item in my possession. Also could I stop paying on it altogether, would that be an option?? I am military also so I know there are laws about how much interest they can charge us too and in my search for the exact name of the store, so I got it right in this post, I found out this store I deal with is currently being sued by the state for bad business practices concerning their lending practices. I just think this is utter crap! I get that the system going out in less than 6 months is not their doing but to make a consumer pay for something that no longer have just sounds illegal and not good customer service! Please help!!

Ok but how is it legal for them to make me pay on something I do not even have anymore, that is what I do not get?? I did not have a warranty with the company I am renting from. It's not the shop's fault that the Sony product was defective. In any case, Sony has fulfilled the terms of the warranty.

ETA: I once got an XBox 360 that had the ring of death. The refurb unit I got has been a trooper - nary a problem in many years.

Really, my biggest issue is paying full price so for them that is $600, even in December of last year so 2014, for something that is used. Seriously would any of you here pay full price for a used system or used anything?? You certainly would not do it with a car or how about a house, I could go on and on here but I think, I hope, you get my point. I have considered by the way taking the used one to them because my son whom I got the system for is pretty upset at what happened and would rather have a PS3 again. Wishing we had not sold it. I also realize I signed a contract which contractually obligates me to pay for the it.

You ARE dense, which has nothing to do with being stupid. You are dense because you refuse to even consider the possibility that you are wrong.

What does your original agreement say regarding terms like "repair or replace" and "same or like item"? I'm going to guess those and other warranty terms aren't even discussed, because what you have is a personal loan from a bank which you used to pay the appliance store for a game system. Your business with the retailer is complete; your business now is with the bank and the system manufacturer. Your duty to the bank is to pay them in full as agreed. Your recourse, if you're not happy with your purchase, is via the manufacturer, unless any other warranty was granted by the retailer.

On a personal note, how necessary was the purchase of a game system that you actually needed to take out a loan to pay for it? If your priorities are in order, you'll be much more eager to take out a loan to pay an attorney to fight for your rights as a consumer than you were to take out the loan to buy the system in the first place.
