I have just been appointed Executor of an estate. I am the only person named in the will and the only living next of kin, no one else to mess with dividing up assets, etc. Im just curious as to what to expect next. I know I will have to open an estate account, what is that for? Also the estate has to stay open for 6 months I think, can I go ahead and transfer property into my name so it can be insured, etc? Just curious as what to expect at this point. I do have an attorney, just figured I would throw theses questions out there in the mean time until I hear from him.
