What is the name of your state? Florida

good afternoon

looking for help, and the best help available please, no b.s.

i'm a broker who recently left a firm, who paid me a 6,000 dollar up front bonus

due to shady ipo's, and broken contracts not only verbal but written i chose to left the firm and go with another firm..

one month later i start getting calls from a collection agency

to make a long story short, would it be worth my time to fight the arbitration? and next question is would the firm even come after me?

the collection agency is willing to knock off 1,000 dollars so i owe 5,000 and also willing to set up ap ayment plan of about 400 bucks a month {keep in mind im new to the business, i have no money so as lame as it is, yes 400 is a lot for me to handle now}

so my questions are

1>would it be worth it to fight this case and just tell them i want to go to arbitration? {i understand i owe the money and contracts rarely have legitimancy in these situations, but i have spoken to a few lawyers and some have said its a good case and some have said its a roll of the dice}

2>if i owe 5,000, in which 30 percent of the money owed goes to the collection agency which leaves the firm coming after me with 3,500 dollars to gain, would they even take the time to do that?, between lawyer costs etc. they would end up losing money even if they won the case,.,,

so many people told me they are just threatening me and trying to get me to pay back the money, but chances are they wouldnt even waste thier time on this taking it to an arbitration since the money is so small, I ALSO KNOW FOR A FACT THEY ARE GOING AFTER 100,000 DOLLAR BROKERS who owe money, and even the debt collector admitted i was on the bottom of the list

PLEASE HELP ASAP

It is hard for anyone who does not know the details to answer intelligently -- such as how long you were there, what your production was, what they said to induce you to join, whether while there was there their conduct with IPOs or other activities illegal so you were justified in leaving, what contract you signed, how it dealt with advances, what the provisions are for payment of legal or collection fees in arbitrationwhether you have any state law claim for compensation for hours worked, etc.
