What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? MS

I was asked to resign from private sector IT job in 2000 because I hacked the email server. Clean job record since then - have worked with sensitive data and even did some contract work for the company that asked me to resign.

Should I even even attempt to apply for a federal job? I understand that TS is out of the question (probably would not subject myself to the process even with a clean job history).

Although I am prepared to discuss the incident, I don't want to initiate the application process if there is no possibility that I could pass adjudication.

I would go ahead and apply for federal jobs. Be brief in your explanation and mention that you have done jobs for same company later on.
