What is the name of your state?tx

I am a middle school teacher experiencing reverse discrimination. This past Monday I was asked to sign an employee re-election document for a new contract.

There were several check boxes that said re-election 1-year, 2 year and nonre-election. The document that I was asked to sign was not checked.
The secretary was the one to brought it to me during class and asked me to sign it.

All documents were due today. The Personnel department has informed me that my principal is holding my form. She was given until this Monday at 4.00 PM to turn it in.

I am concerned that she is choosing nonre-election and to terminate my contract. However, I have not received any employment evalutions, either formal or informal. I have had little contact with her this year.

My question is, can an employer legally terminate an employee without going through the step-by-step process? I should have had informal observations and received a copy of the observation report. I have never received one of these. I have also never been called into her office for her to tell me if she has some concerns about my performance. And lastly, she has never given me a formal appraisal of my job performance.

The personnel office feels certain that she is holding my form so that she can check the nonrenewal box. I was stupid for sighning a blank document. Now she has gone back and used it to her advantage. This happened to me last year and I didn't learn the lesson.

They come when you least expect it and when you are the most busy.

I hate confrontations! But what recourse do I have? I know I may have to file a grievance, I know I must bring a witness with me to meet with her in her office. What else?

I'm too trusting of people, I don't know what to expect from this principal next.

Can someone offer some insight before I start to get upset over this?

Thank you for any advice.
