What is the name of your state? TN

Hi ...maybe someone can shed some light for me.. I have a 6 yr old child that was assaulted by another child (7yr old) on his way to school this morning.he has been picked on a couple times and this is the last straw for me.. the other kid bit my childs arm and left a nasty mark on him.. the school kicked the other child off the bus for 2 days.. thats it? there have been many problems on the bus that my child rides this year and they have also changed drivers about 3 or 4 times because they all quit... i have tried to look for school bus laws and proceedures to know what my childs rights are but i have found no useful information anywhere.. it is almost like the school system doesn't want me to know my childs rights... i'd like to know what legal options i have to get the school boards attention on the school bus situtation.. since they are not doing much about it. they told me to drive my kid to school, but i think that the bad kids should be driven to school not the good ones.thanks

Here's your state antibullying law: http://www.bullypolice.org/TNSB1621.pdf

Typically antibullying laws require districts to have procedures so that they address concerns raised. Given the response of removing the student from the bus, they have fulfilled their responsibilities.

If the child continues to target your child, ask that they be separated. You child is just starting his school career. Spend time teaching him why some children bully and strategies to deal with bullying.

Here's a couple well reviewed books for students available on Amazon:
Bullies Are a Pain in the Brain
Stick Up for Yourself : Every Kid's Guide to Personal Power & Positive Self-Esteem
The Bully - can download free at: http://www.thebullybook.com/bullying.html

The web is full of resources. You can help to bully-proof your child.

well this morning we find out that they didnt kick the kid off the bus because it would be too "inconvenient" for the parents of the biter child.. whats really inconvenient is me having to drive my kid to school cause he's scared of sitting next to the kid on the bus this morning..does this constitute failure by the school system to take action?

It does not constitute a failure. It means they didn't take that action. There was some contact made because you found out that it's inconvenient for the parents. The school could be applying other responses or doing something preventative.

Also, one event will never rise to the level of no response. Bullying requires a pattern of behavior to rise to the level of bullying or harassment.

Have you asked if your child can sit away from the student, and have you started to research how you are going to bully proof your child?
