Well, Gentlemen, it is with regret that I feel time has come for me to hang up my spurs and move on to other places.

Though I feel that I have always tried to answer questions asked, even in the face of adversity, (as all of you have) I have come to this decision tonight and feel that I should explain why I have made this decision.

It is PURELY due to, what appears to be a 'new' marketing 'tactic' of FreeAdvice.com, to impose POP-UPS each and every time that I (we?) read or answer questions. The apparent decision to delay and hinder my (what I feel is valuable) time having these inane, idiotic, asinine pop-up ads open (and I have to close) and then they open (and I have to close) and so on, is more than I care to do. And I feel they are a terrible imposition on each and every one of us, both questioners and answeres alike!!!

So, it is with regret that I bid you adieu. And if this site ever decides to not sacrifice OUR time in the never ending chase for $0.00003 per POP-UP, let me know.

So Long....

"Happy Trails to you, until we meet again.... " as he rides off into the sunset with his trusty steed... he stops on the horizon, with the setting sun behind him and turns, with a tear in his eye, he tips his hat in salute to the many friends he feels he has made... and he turns and rides into the sunset.

Will he be back??... only the FreeAdvice.com 'folks' can determine that. And will others ride with him... again, only 'they' know the answer.

BTW FreeAdvice.com folks: If you want to see what the world thinks of your 'new' plan to use pop-ups, read some of the complaints:

My response:

Oh no you don't !

If I have to come to Texas to shake you violently, you're not leaving !

All you have to do is download and install "Pop-Up Stopper" from PanicWare Software. It's FREE. It's a tiny little program that I run, and I haven't been bothered again by their new advertising campaign.

Get it here:
http://www.panicware.com/index1.html

And, don't do that again to us, Goddamnit. You're too important to all of us ! And besides, you're a good friend.

Hey Steve, not so fast pal.
I installed the corporate version of Microsoft Back Office XP and selected Stop Pop Tarts. I have had no problem since. I do not read any banner ads anyway.
Heck I never even read my responses to posts unless it is a continuing thread.
Your and our time is very valuable and I'm sure the freeadvice people want to keep us on board for a long time.

So give us a sign man.

Your friend,

HomeGuru

Steve,

We know were you live !!! if you fail to return to the freeadvice.com boards, you will soon be receiving a summons to appear in an Arkansas court to establish paternity of all the fatherless people in 'Little Rock'. A truck will be used to delivery the legal papers.

Remember, few people ever return from Arkansas..

Don’t make us do this!!

After taking a few days to calm down from my anger at the insistent "POP-UP" ads that the site management has chosen to impose on us, and the fact that I have received some very nice 'come on back' emails directly from site visitors (and ya'll here) and finally since I have received an "explanation" email from the site operators, I have decided to return.

I now recognize that the POP-UPS are a 'necessary evil' needed to generate the money to support this free site. And that without them, this site (which provides a true service to readers) could not be maintained.

So, for those who were throwing parties and celebrating my demise, I am sorry to disappoint you. And for those who missed me in my temporary exile, thank you. Your comments are truly appreciated.

Now, lets get back to work!

PS: IAAL, your recommended Pop-Stopper doesn't work with my browser (Netscape), so I am looking at a couple of other ones. However, for some reason this particular session has NOT generated the POP-UP yet. Did they 'fix' it??? Only time will tell.

My response:

THIS IS GREAT NEWS !

Don't worry one, little, bit about any detractors you might have. Screw them !

I know, and appreciate, the extraordinary work you do here for the masses. It's majority rule (or is that mob rule) here and it's the final vote - - 98% in favor of your return.

Imagine myself, HomeGuru, and LegalBeagle blowing the long horns, like in those Roman movies, and flower petals being thrown before you, with your huddled masses standing at the sides, as you walk down the Red Carpet, sire.

Welcome home, Steve.

Hey Steve, now I remember one of my very first letters to Mary the administrator was complaining about the banner ads on this website.
I got back a similar response. Just think, it it were not for those advertisers paying to advertise on this website, there would be no money to host the site, pay for webmasters etc. We also need raises ourselves.
