What is the name of your state? NY

For 2.5 yrs attorney told me papers were filed, and we were waiting for judges decision, never told me judges name. Finally, on the phone, I asked for judge's name and case#. I was told there is no case#, and she couldnt provide name of the judge. Attorny claims she filed papers, but they were rejected based on lack of statute. Never bothered to inform me about it. Do attorneys 1st file papers and wait for rejection, or should statute exist before papers can be filed? Instead of a decision, that according to the lawyer was comming any day now, I find out there is no case. Has a lawyer right to do this? What remedy do I have against a lawyer who appears to have done nothig but waiste my time? I fired the attorney and requested to have all papers mailed to me. Once I get the papers what is the relief I should seek?

Thank you,

Alexa

take your papers and consult with a malpractice attorney. you may also want to report your original attorney to the NY State Bar.

What was the case for and why did you wait two and a half years to talk to the lawyer?
