Hi, I am in FL. In Feb. of 1999 a friend of mine purchased a vehicle. At that time he lived with his ex-girlfriend.
A couple of months later my friend had to move suddenly to another state to work and was gone for 4 or 5 months, but he continued making payments on the vehicle. When he came back to town he had purchased a used car and told his ex-girlfriend that she could use the vehicle until he got settled into another apartment.
He married several months later and purchased a brand new 97 nissan and because of the amount still owed on the other vehicle he had to pay off the vehicle that his ex had in order to buy the new 97 nissan. He told her since he paid it off that all she had to do is reimburse him the 3000.00 and he would sign the title over to her, but she refused.
The title, registration and tag is in his name. He has been fighting this for 2 months now and since she has forged his name and sold the vehicle. Should my friend obtain an attorney or file in small claims court?
Isnt there a certain amount of money that you can sue for in small claims?
His amount he is sueing for is 8040.00. He has all receipts, title solely in his name, registraition solely in his name, and proof that the tag is solely in his name which she is now using on her other vehicle.
Could you please help?
