My aunt (~52 yrs old) works for the county district in which she lives (SC). She recently found out that she has cancer and is now undergoing chemotherapy. Her doctor will not let her work and faxed this to her employer. Within two days after sending this, she gets a certified letter from the county saying they were sorry but, by the way, you are now terminated due to not coming back to work. She got another letter stating that all her insurance is cancelled. Can they do this to her? Talk about kicking you when you're down. What options do we have? Please help, she is worried about her life and does not need this.
