I'm a new driver and just got into my first car accident. I failed to yield when making a left turn at a green light and was hit on the side of the car. I was turning very slowly to look at a street sign and the other car did not start braking until in the intersection. My passenger and I were ok with damage to my door and tire. The other car hit me at an angle and ended up on the other side of the intersection. When going to check on them the driver was out of the car limping as if his foot was bent back, a woman from the front passenger seat was out of the car yelling at me(pregnant, felt terrible), and another woman was standing next to the car rubbing her neck. When going back later to check again the pregnant women was back in the car and seatbelted back in. Her and the woman rubbing her neck left in an ambulance and the man drove home. This was definately my fault and I was cited and gave the info to my insurance company and am now being sued. Do I have any defense for suspected fraud here? I feel horrible and am willing to do whatever I can to make up for what I've done but I don't want to get scammed.
