What is the name of your state?
Washington

My wife and I were rear-ended by a driver without insurance. My insurance called me and offered my wife and I money for "Pain and Suffering". Mine was easy as I missed 3 days of work and I wasn't looking to get anything above and beyond that. My wife is a stay at home mom and was injured worse than myself. She had to go back to the doctor a few weeks later due to a large bump in her calf that the doctors feared was a blood clot. She was unable to volunteer in our kids' classroom or do any grocery shopping for 3 weeks. They offered her half of what they offered me even though her injury was worse. She feels as though they are downplaying her being a stay at home mom and that being a stay at home mom is not worth anything.

Thanks for any replies.

Ask them how they came up with their calculations. How much uninsured motorist coverage did you purchase on your policy? There should be a "per person" and a "per accident/occurrance" amount.

Off hand I'm not sure of the amount, but it's well over the amount my wife would be looking for. She's just extremely offended that she was injured worse than me and in pain for a lot longer, yet the offer from them was a lot lower than for me since I work and it's easy to calculate the time missed from work. I'm not exactly sure how they came up with their amount, other than to say it seemed extremely arbitrary.

My response:

So, when will you be hiring an attorney, who knows more (a lot more), and leveling the "playing field" for your wife? Or, are you planning on continuing this battle with both hands tied behind your back?

Their numbers are not arbitrary, but you clearly need an attorney.
