I am a law school graduate. What I offer is mere information, not to be construed as forming an attorney client relationship.
The answer is yes. Just because you have insurance does not negate you from going after the wrongful party to fix the car so you don't have to pay out of pocket.
This is so to make you whole or what your car theoretically was prior to the accident. Just make sure you have it in writing with the insurance company that their settlement is not full payment. That you will cash the check under protest because you are seeking the remainder out of pocket expenses from the driver/owner of the other car.
Make a formal suit against the driver.
