My daughter had an accident on Jan.15. The tow company that was called lost my daughters car for three days. When we finally located her car, the owner of the company told my daughter that she could not remove her personal property from her car until she paid the tow and storage fees. She had roadside assistance that is responsible for those fees. We argued with the owner until he finally agreed to let her get her medication from her car. We were escorted to the car to remove only medication. There are things missing from her car. We filed a police report for the missing items. The owner of the company says that he can keep her personal belongings. This is against the law, but the police department will not escort her to get her belongings. They don't seem to know the law. The precinct told us to call the plain clothes department, the plain clothes department told us to call the precinct. She cannot afford an attorney. What can she do?
