My family purchased a car three years ago. We bought our car from a small auto liquidator dealership. The dealership and my family agreed to purchase the car, which was a Honda Accord for $8500. We then signed the necessary paperwork and paid the dealer $8500 in cash. The dealer said that they will send the Title of the car we purchased to our home. We never received the Title to our car. We found out a couple months later that they have claimed bankruptcy. We still had no Title to our car. However, we found out that the Auto Liquidator was in partnership with another company named Long Beach Acceptance. We then asked the Long Beach Acceptance for our Title, but they still would not give up the Title to the car that we have already paid for, because we bought the car below blue book value at the time. They then asked us to pay an additional $3000 if we wanted the title. We disagree with the Long Beach Acceptance Company, because we already signed an agreement to buy the car at the price we fully paid for, which was $8500. The $8500 was all that we had to spend for a family car and we had no way to pay the extra $3000 they asked for.
My question is: Would my family be able to fight this case in court and be able to win our Car Title and What advice would you be able to give us about this situation? I live in Riverside, California.
Thank You Very much for your help.
