That's what some have said on comments sections of class actions info sites. And why would they want the email anyway? If they have a 1986 Toyota truck and stolen debit or credit card and whatever else they have taken.Mere access to one's account doesn't reveal one's social security number.
Right. An AutoZone account wouldn’t have the account holder’s social security number so that should not be a worry for gmku.Mere access to one's account doesn't reveal one's social security number.
And a good information website from " Cyberguycom " mysterious shipments in your inbox". Shows exactly the problem. It's data breaches. Well this guy really caused me some pain to shop Autozone. I really don't use.Quincy, as always, you are an incredible fount of very useful knowledge. <3
Doesn't Autozone hold some responsibility to safeguarding my data, etc?
I didn't even use my account and thought being dormant it would just close.
I never adding any payments to the account. . . . I'm guessing their car info and debit or credit card isn't theirs. It wasn't mine.
Sure, but what does that have to do with this? Do you have evidence that the person who placed the order got it from AZ?
Why would you think that?
Then what do you care?
I don't really understand the point of this post.
Trying to maintain the privacy of personal data is a challenge. Using recommended account safeguards to protect your personal information will not always work to safely guard your personal information, as you have discovered. Not only are hackers more devious and skilled than ever, those charged with handling private information can also be careless or inept.Well would you like it if Manual Rodriguez used your email to order or trade in a car part , etc ? And you get a valid receipt for that order etc?

Go into the account and remove any credit cards associated with the account. Then, create a burner email address with an incredibly complex password and two-factor authentication. Then change the email for Autozone to that burner email address and update the Autozone account with an equally complex password and enable two-factor authentication. Then forget about the Autozone account.
You did advise Autozone that the purchase was fraudulent, right? Did you get your money back?
