if you are awol from army and droped from rolls you will get out. the army wont want you. If you go to fort sill you will be out in a week if your there by tuesday after noon you will be out by friday. dont bring more than 20.00 bring lots of smokes, not just for you but for the bums that are there. its real easy just get it over with. if your not active army you will need your orders if you dont have them then you may expect a small delay. if you go in thinking two weeks then you will be okay becouse they try to get every one out in one week no matter what. good luck and god bless.dopplehetz!!!!!!!!

While this is accurate about 95% for IET soldiers, it is not always true for soldiers who were already at their duty stations when they went AWOL. It all depends on why you left, how long ago, and the mood of the CO that day. Many times, when your left from your duty station, you will be sent right back there, and then your command will determine what to do with you.

so can you only turn yourself in after you have been dropped from the rolls? what happens if you go before your 30 days? my 30 days will be over on sundday but supposivly my recruiter called my husband and my parents saying that he is going to report where i am staying at and they will come get me and i will spend a couple months in jail if i turn my self in now where as if i turn myself in after 30days i will serve a few years.

lol, since you still talk to your recruiter I'm guessing you were still in IET status (basic training, or AIT). If the police pick you up then you are already DFR'd, and have a federal warrant issued. In that case they will send you to Ft Sill after a day or two in jail (maybe no days since your already in OK, then they will out process you there. Few years in jail? Were you in trouble with the law when you went AWOL?

IrishGoat i dont talk to my recruiter anymore. but he got a hold of my in laws and my husband and told brainwashed them. i have never been introuble with the law in any way, i was a good soilder in basic but just could not handle being away from my daughter anymore. i was VERY suicidal. i know i should have gone another route but I just couldnt wait any longer. i saw people that had went awol from ait and returned and have been there 8 months so far. i do plan on turning myself in asap as long as i dont get sent back to ait.

while I was at fort sill we hade ait and permanent party with us. I was awol from basic as most were, and almost all that were there for ait got sent home by friday as long as you were dfr'd. we had one ait person who the first sgt kept trying to talk him in staying he ended up getting a 14 instead of 10 so he could reinlist if wanted. the first sgt is realy cool as long as you respect him and his staff. if you were stationed in the us you will stay at pcf until they send you to your unit. we had some permanant party that had been there up to three months becouse they were going to send them to diff units. there is realy no set way that everyone will be treated it all depends on how much the army has invested in you. the best I can tell you is dont worry they will do whats best. The army is being unussualy nice at this time by not sending people to jail. now dont get me wrong we had three people get sent to jail but it was becouse they did stupid **** while at the pcf, or did **** while awol, or before going awol. If you did something bad before you went awol you will deal with it when you return. remember when you get to the pcf you are still a soldier and they expect you to act that way if you dont then you will be in deep s#@t!!! no joke. and all the stories about fort sill extending the stay is bull. they dont want you there anymore than you want to be there.from what I know dfr'd from basic and ait is almost the same. when they file dfr than means they dont expect you back anf need to fill your spot asap.if you went awol from ait or permanent party you have a better chance of staying in if you want.Awol from basic you realy are not given a chance to stay in. You can fight the chapter 10 but you will be there a while and they will tell you there is no guarentee! last but not least I wish all of you the best and would advise anyone who is not dfr'd to just go back and do this the right way. Ok I have a question and I hope someone can help me!!!
I went AWOL from Fort Benning a couple months back during basic training and Im getting ready to head up to Fort Sil to turn myself in. My question is, Will they take me back? And if so, is there a possibility that I can change my MOS?
I was in the Infantry, and left because I felt I was becoming a mindless killing machine (No Offence to some of you out there) so I was wondering if they would let me change my MOS or if not, can I re-join later on?
I know now that I made the mistake of leaving because I was scared, looking back I regret it, please someone help me out here!!!

I'm assuming you were osut, how far along were you? its unlikely they will keep you. if you want to stay in try reporting to benning. They def wont let you change your mos.
