On June 27th my wife and I had our first child. We live in Missouri, and we knew state law allowed us 30 days to choose an insurance company for our child. On July 1st, my employer changed insurance carriers and my wife and I chose to cover our child with my insurance provider. When we received our hospital bill we found that my wife's insurance was refusing to pay for our daughter's initial hospital stay. Now, neither my previous insurance carrier or my present insurance carrier are accepting responsibility for the bill. All the insurance companies claim it is the other insurance companies responsibility. What can we do?

I have a question.... did your wife's coverage pay for the delivery of the baby? and did she ever attempt to add the baby to her policy? At what point did you add the newborn to your policy? If her policy paid for the delivery, I BELIEVE that is all they will pay. If you did not add the baby to your policy until July 1st then that means there was no coverage for the babies stay in the hospital. I dont know the laws in your state, only giving my opinion. I would suggest you contact the state insurance commissioner and see what the laws are in your state. Good luck.
