I live in SC and recently accepted a job for another company. I placed a two week notice but after only 3 days into my notice I was let go so my current employer could work on finding a replacement. I am a salary manager and was to begin training at my new job in several weeks. My question is this, since I gave a 2 week notice and my employer decided not to let me work my notice out, am I still owed for this time? Also my company is five months behind on writing bonus checks. Am I still entitled to this money when they write these checks? Otherwise it will go back into our company account and no one will receive the money.

Thanks
Daniel

No, you are not entitled to be paid for any time you did not work, regardless of how much notice you gave. Barring a bona fide contract that says otherwise, there are no circumstances under which your employer is required to pay you beyond the last day that you actually worked, even if you gave notice and even if you are an exempt employee.

The bonus question is one that is addressed under the bonus agreement, not under the law.

Vacation

Thanks for the response. Will i at least be owed my remaining vacation hours? The handbook only states that after 2 years of service you earn 2 weeks of vacation. There are no other guidelines stated in the handbook for use of this vacation time.

Thanks
