What is the name of your state? Massachusetts

OK, I know no one has sympathy for criminals, but I am hoping someone can help a truly reformed criminal.

What is the Mass law on employers researching background (criminal) history?
I am from MA, but recently accepted a temp-to-perm position in NH (based in CA). Now they tell me there is a 7 year felony check for permanent position. 5 years and 2 months ago, I had a bad check charge, over $250 so it is a felony. I have ordered 3 background checks online, and all had all my previous addresses, but said no criminal history was found. Is this possible?

One of the companies I got the report from said Mass was included, but one said Mass only releases sex offender information or charges less than 2 years.

I did not lie about my education or work history, which are both stellar, and I am great for the job, but I am really worried.

Can anyone help?

The best idea is to fully disclose your past.

Obviously, that is best, but I was never even given the opportunity before I was hired. I was not asked by the temp company or the supervisor at the interview. Generally, I don't introduce myself by saying, "Hi. I was convicted of the felony charge of larceny over $250 in 2001. Pleased to meet you."

Wasn't there a place on the application asking if you had ever been convicted of a felony?

PS In the employment world nearly all employers will run a background check. Beter get used to it.
