What is the name of your state? Massachusetts
Back in 1996 I purchased a car from a dealer in lowell massachusettes, after 3 weeks the car failed so I called the dealership and stated I wanted the car fixed because I had a 30 day warranty, he told me to bring it in and it should be done at the end ofthe week. I called at the end of the week andhe gave me the run around, this went on for almost 3 weeks, finally I went down and demanded him to tell me where the shop was he sent the car too. When I got to the shop they were calling it the mystery car. they stated that it was left there 3 weeks prior with the keys in it , and they had no idea whose car it was. To make a long story short, I took the guy to court for the lemon law and won the case, at whichtime I got my deposit back. Not even thinking, years later I go to buy a house and I have 6200.00 on my credit report for a car I never had. Its not fair and I'm not sure where to go from here, I never got a bill from the place that financed the car and this was by chance I learned it was on my report. Basically the bank paid the seller , he took the money and now i'm responsible for this debt, i'm upset and mad. I"m a single mom trying to move on in life and this is a bit setback. Can anybody give me advice on what to do next?

a quick question: is this appearing on your credit report as a judgement or an open loan? it will help determine what you should do next.
