What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Iowa. We purchased a car on ebay from a dealer in Illinois and to make a very long story short it was not at all what it was supposed to be. We filed a complaint with the Illinois Attorney General's office and it turned out that there were other complaints against the dealer. The Assistant Attorney General took the dealer to court and after about 4 years of litigation we were awarded the $4000 that we paid for the car and we get to keep the car. The guy wasn't too happy. Now we are told it has been turned over to the collection department at the Attorney General's office. We haven't heard anything yet, it's been several months. What are the chances that we will ever see the money? Is there anything we should be doing to increase the chance that we will get any money from the guy? The Attorney General's office was so helpful and compassionate, I hate to keep bugging them. I'm mostly glad that we won the case but collecting would be nice too. Afterall we did get screwed on the purchase. It is my understanding that he does own property and a lien would be put on his home. They also told me if he gets a tax refund we may get some of that. How does collection work and will we ever see any money from all this? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
