What is the name of your state? AL.

A year and a half ago, I retained an attorney to start my divorce proceedings. In the beginning she told me that I wouldn't have any trouble getting a divorce.

So, I paid the lawyer in full for the price quoted to me. As a matter of fact it's now been a YEAR since the final payment.

Later on she works out an agreement with my "future" ex. She agreed to sign a no-contest divorce providing that I paid the car notes and she gets the car. Down the road, instead of signing the papers she begins avoiding phone calls or any contact from my attorney.

In the meantime, I discover a ton of charge accounts and credit lines opened to her -IN MY NAME-. Each one, had gone to collections and they start hassling me. That's how I uncovered the $12,000.00 debt she forgot to mention.

After going through our mail, I also found where --MY EX had sent off for my credit report behind my back and without any knowledge.

So, I speak to the lawyer WHO ADVISED ME... to STOP paying for the car -something about her (The ex) breaching the original contract.

So, I stop paying for the car, whereas it ended up being repo'd.

Then I get ahold of my lawyer FINALLY... and she informs me the -COURTS- lost the papers that were "SUPPOSEDLY" filed back last year this time.

Now... -I HAVE- to call the ex and get her to sign the papers again, because she is REFUSING to do so... because the car was repo'd.

Now is it my imagination? or ISN'T THAT WHAT I'VE PAID HER TO DO.....?

And secondly... AREN'T ALL LAWYERS REQUIRED TO MAKE LEGITIMATE COPIES OF ALL CASE WORK?

What should I do at this point?? WHAT ARE -----MY RIGHTS?
