We purchased a 1994 Ford explorer from an auto auction in denver colorado
8 days after purchase the transmission "exploded" the transmission shop where the repairs were done said whoever worked on the vehicle last put improper parts and did improper work on the transmission we went back to where the ford was purchased and found out, 3 days before the vehicle was sold there was transmission work done we have stopped payment on the vehicle and have been getting the runaround about where the work was done previously to our purchase Is ther anything we can do??? HELP!!!

Probably not, short of paying to fix the transmission yourself. You can ask the dealer to help defray the costs of the repairs, but they are not obligated to unless you pruchased the vehicle with a warranty. Without a warranty, the purchase was "as is" -- you had the obligation to have the vehicle thoroughly inspected BEFORE you paid for it. Once you bought it, you own it.

You are free to contact the the BBB and file a complaint, but unless the dealership wants to work with you out of goodwill, or there is a warranty you are not telling us about, you are stuck with a car with a busted transmission.

You can read more here if you want, butit says the same thing: http://www.ago.state.co.us/CONSPROT/autos/BIGDEAL.HTM#VI

I know this was two days ago but wanted to add that you could be in deeper trouble. You stopped payment to the auto auction. Your contract to buy was with them as-is. It's a third party you are even having a problem with not them. They can sue you or prosecute on the check (if it was a check and not a cc payment). I agree with everything above, you are pretty much out of luck, but wanted to add, you could be in worse trouble.
