My boyfriends bail was surrendered and he was re-arrested for surety to surrender. When I called the bail bond company and asked her why she said it was because he had been in jail in another county. I told her he hadn't been but she wouldn't reinstate the bonds. I found another bonding company to bond him out and called the first company back to get the collateral ( a diamond ring and a gun) and she told me we forfeited the collateral when she surrendered the bond.We filed a complaint with the Bail Bond Board and we went to the hearing and she ended up getting 6 months probation. They said they couldnt do anything about our collateral or the money they we had to pay to bond him out again. Do we need to hire a civil lawyer to try and get our collateral and gun and money back? This has happened more than once with this bail bond company.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My response:
Depending on their total value, you may want to consider Small Claims Court. Check your court to find out how much you can sue for in Small Claims court. If the value is higher than Small Claims, then see an attorney to file in a higher court.
