What crimes was George Bailey liable for and what would be a typical sentence if he were found guilty? (not a trivia question. I genuinely want to know.)

Loss of company property.

Failure to safeguard company assets.

Stuff like that. If they can prove he knowingly caused the loss, then he can be charged with grand larceny, embezzlement, etc. If they can't, he can be charged with negligence. Life is not fair, someone always has to take the fall. It's not always a wonderful life.
