What is the name of your state? TX

I was reading where a collection agency can't sieze monies in a bank acct. if the fund total is less than $2K. I have a judgement against me, with my account frozen (non-exempt funds). Can they take it all?

Thanks

And just where did you read this?

If collectors are bottom feeders, what are debtors?
Just curious.

not all collectors are bottom feeders..but it's pretty easy to tell who the losers are. What's funny is, most, if all collectors make LESS than the average debtor

Of course they can't take your money! It's yours, and if they do, sue them for triple damages...

Does it matter who makes how much money? Living below the means is the only surefire way to not become a debtor. You'd be surprised, though, how much some collectors make. Most, like you said, make just average.

FYI, I am not a bill collector nor would I ever consider that as a line of work. I am a regular guy that works 40 hours a week in a factory and dabbles in the law as a hobby. You asked a question and because you didn't like the answer you got your panties all twisted up and came up with an obvious well thought up reply. You never did anwer my question to you, where did you read about collection agencies and siezing bank account assets? I will wait with baited breath for your well thought out answer.

My non-exempt checking has been siezed, so my banker "educated" me. As far as a collector only being able to take monies over $2K, I heard it on this board and can't verify if it's true. That's why I asked the question. However, I am researching my options.

As one who has personally seized bank accounts, I have never heard of such a statute. I am pretty sure that your bank would be aware of such a law if there was one.
