Bank Levy, now what?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? PA

I've issued a bank levy to satisfy a judgement. The sheriff is going to freeze the account tomorrow.

Now what? Is the money held in escrow? For how long? I understand the defendant / debtor can claim financial hardships, etc.... What can the debtor do now?

Basically, what happens now, and what will the debtor do to avoid paying while the money is in escrow?

Thanks in advance

Off the top of my head, my best educated guess is that once a bank account is attached, the marshals office will issue payment to the one recovering the judgement.

Such payment will be made unless the judgement debtor files some type of exempt status with the court who entered judgement against them and the matter will be heard and decided by the judge as to whether the judgement debtor is exempt or not.

The only things the debtor can do to keep the income from being garnished is to prove that all or part of the money is exempt from garnishment or request the court that issued the judgment vacate the judgment. They will have to show just cause to vacate the judgment.
