1985 filed bankruptcy Chapter 7: AEX debt discharged. Have not heard from AEX for 15 years. Today get collection letter from agency stating "trying to collect this debt" If you pay you could be eligible for new AEX Opima card.
Can American Express legally do this? This debt was discharge per court order in 1985! Are they violating the law? Texas

" Could be eligible " eh. I don't see why they couldn't try. I've heard they issue a secured optima card. I think I'd just send the CA a letter with the bk case number and tell them to not contact you again.
