Hello;

We were in NYC on 911. Our business was devastated by this event.
Consequently we had to move and file for bankruptcy.
My question is about my credit report.

There is no mercy in this regard. We directly lost everything to 911.
We have now been out of bankruptcy almost 4 years. Is there no recourse for getting the bankruptcy off our credit report early?

Your suggestions are appreciated.

Regards
David Wood

I don't believe there is anyway of getting it off early. That's kind of one of those things you sign on to when filing - understanding it can be on your report up to 10 years.
911 wasn't your fault, but it goes along the lines of the people who file b/c their medical bills are so huge. It sucks, but it's something you have to deal with.
It's been 4 years though, so as long as you've started to do things to rebuild your good credit, I would think it would overshadow the BK to some extent at this point.

You can certainly try disputing the bankruptcy, but don't expect any miracles. If there is any part of the bankruptcy tradeline that is not accurate, dispute it. First you should work on any post-bk cleanup of all included debts, then attempt the bankruptcy itself.
