What is the name of your state? IN

Has anyone heard of an organization called DebtorAid? Wondering if they are what they say? Would you recommend them? Thanks for your help.

What type of organization are they... A Credit Counseling progarm?

If so... RUN... There are more people who have been screwed by such progarms that there are who've been helped... They don't do anything more than what you can do on your own...

Agreed, DebtorAid will do you more harm than good and using them will go on your credit reports. Having that reported is nearly as bad as bankruptcy itself.

Thanks. DebtorAid specializes in filing the bankruptcy paperwork. I don't think they are a credit counseling service.

You are better off buying the NOLO Press book and doing that yourself. YOU are going to have to know exactly what's on your BK schedules and WHY. YOU are the one that will have to answer the Trustee's questions and DebtorAid cannot help you.

Besides, many districts have decided that these schedule prep places are promoting bankruptcy fraud.. and that's really not worth the risk.

OK! Thanks for your help. Don't want to get into trouble doing this. So, would you recommend do-it-yourself bankruptcy? Or are we better off seeing an attorney? Thanks again.

Personally I would always recommend a lawyer. They know the Trustee's their demeanor and what they will and will not accept on your schedules. You as a pro se filer won't have any of that 'inside' information.

However, if you can't pay a lawyer, you can't. The NOLO book is very good, walks you thru every form, line by line, and explains everything. If you must go pro se, use the book. The forms are free on-line.
