What is the name of your state? California

I filed Bankruptcy in 11/02, my Uncle pasted in 1/03 (I'm 1 of 4 heirs), the court ruled in 2/03, and the bankruptcy was discharged in 7/03. Finally, the lawyer for my Uncle's estate is going to court to close the estate, so he can distribute the inheritance.

After 2 years, do I have to give my portion to the bankruptcy court?

I know that if someone dies and leaves you money in their will within the six months after filing that you must notify the trustee because the inheritance belongs to the bankruptcy estate. When the money is distributed has nothing to do with it, it's when the person dies. And in your case is sounds like you were named as an heir within a couple months of filing. Now, given that all of this happened years ago, and depending on how much you are inheriting, I do not know what the trustee would do, if anything. I will defer to other posters on the board with more experience and wisdom, but I believe that the money goes to the bankruptcy estate if the trustee wants to reopen it.
