Subject: beards in the work place

Employer does not want us to grow beards;almost all other companies around us can. is there anything we can do???? is this a form of discrimmination?? would like any documation on this subject. thank you sorry for the spelling .need info as soon as possible going in front of board monday 9/27/99

If you were growing it for religious reasons stupid, they could not say no. But if not, (absent discrimination on grounds of sex, age, religion, color, etc.) an employer can fire you without cause absent a union contract or employeee manual to the contrary in most states. If he decided he doesn't like the tie you wear you could be out. It's stupid personnel policy in a tight labor market, but that's the law.
