What is the name of your state? Missouri

I am not sure that anyone will remember me as it has been a year since I was last here. My husband adopted my two children from a previous marriage with the bd's consent. The adoption was carried out Oct 2005 and all was well until this time last year. After four months, he decided to contest the adoption on the basis of coercion from his then wife. As a result we spent a lengthy time in court thus, luxury items such as the internet were sacrificed to save money. It has taken this year to get the adoption upheld and be thrown into $30,000+ into debt.

Anyway, I am happy to be able to give this update, but sorry to the friends I made who were neglected over the last year. Things were tense and I was quite the bitch; frankly no one would have wanted to talk to me anyhow. I don't think that I have ever been through anything so completely draining in my life.

I hope that everyone had a happy year.

Blessings...

Welcome back! I am sure you would have had found some support but I know what it's like to have to sacrifice things when the going gets tough. It's good to know the adoption was upheld... I'm surprised that it went anywhere at all after 4 months

I was just thinking about you the other day. I'm glad to hear the adoption was upheld, sorry to hear you had to go thru so much to keep it that way.

Welcome back and don't be a stranger!

It was allowed to be contested beause Mo allows up to a year to contest, but only on the basis of duress, coercion, etc.; otherwise, it would have gone nowhere. The difficulty also lied in the fact that it took a year to get the whole thing resolved. Our diabetic daughter had been having issues with hypoglycemia, which is very dangerous, and then the ex needed surgery. It just dragged out forever.

You guys would have been great support, that's why I had stayed on even after our adoption was finalized. I feel badly that I wasn't here; I missed you all.

How have you been?

Had some rough times lately here too but things are on the right track and headed in the right direction....

Getting ready to watch the SuperBowl right now! There was some guy with way too much time on his hands that determined that about 20 minutes from my house is the EXACT mid point between the two teams so it's been a bit crazy in this neck of the woods. BTW.. GO COLTS!! hee hee

Glad to hear that things are headed right, Tigger. :)

I'm rooting for the Colts too, but it's not looking too good so far.

Pretty good. My gp case was resolved in 5/06 and then reopened in 10/06. Still working on that. Dh, kids and I are well and I am expecting Number 3 in May!
Oh no, the crazy gp's still aren't letting up yet? *Hugs*

Big Congrats on Number 3! Boy? Girl? Surprise? I think you'll do great especially with the older ones to help!

Yeah, they're still at it, but it got a little messier. I'll pm you about it...

It's a surprise. DH didn't want to know. Sono was on 12/8/06 and the little brat agreed with daddy and didn't want to let me know. Has it's little legs curled up underneath, covering everything up. Kids both can't wait although they argue over whether it's a boy or a girl and both are adamant that they will not change the poopy diapers (as is hubby).
