I am now 21 years old and was adopted when I was 7 by my stepfather via a sneaky process my birth mom did to my birth father after they were divorced. I am currently living w/ my birth father, but he is not "legally" my father so I was wondering if I could have my birth father adopt me back. How would I go about that. I am from Illinois. I know that you can do adult adoptions in illionis, but was wondering if my dad (birth father) could adopt me back w/out my mom having to give her consent.

You're over 21... Brad Pitt(my wish) could adopt you without your mother's consent. However how but doing something cheaper then adoption. Just change your name to his if you don't already have it. Legal obligations usually are stopped by now anyways and as an adult you don't have to answer to anyone wether they are a legal parent or not.

if you can afford them then have paternity test done and contact the state the adoption was done and ask them whats involved with having the remade birth certificate ( post adoption ) made invalid and to have your original birth certificate restored If they cannot help you then consider consulting a local family law or adoption lawyer and at least get a consultation , your a adult your mother cant stop you from seeking information
