What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? California

Hello, I'm a resident of California.

In October of 2010, I plead guilty to my misdemeanor DUI and I have paid for *everything* in full. My last payment to the fine outlined in my original court paper was in January of this year.

Everything was *paid off in full*

Yesterday I received mail from Probation Revenue Services telling me that I owe them 600+$

I was *never* informed of any charges regarding my informal probation I was placed on, my public defender, the judge, the classes, no one throughout the entire duration of my DUI troubles EVER informed me that I would have to pay anything to probation services.

Also, my informal probation ended October of 2011, so it's been around 8 months since all that was as far as I knew done and dealt with.

Now, how is this legal? I would assume this is some sort of financial entrapment if anything considering no one ever informed me there was any charges regarding informal probation, and how is it even fundamentally possible that no one EVER informed me that I would be charged in the near 2 years since I plead guilty? This makes absolutely no sense and I feel this is absolute insanity.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Best regards,
TechGuy
