I just moved from Illinois to Arizona with the "help" of a big interstate moving company. In the process, they managed to do quite a lot of damage to my car. I took it to the dealer and they estimated about $2600 for repairs. So, I got a check for $2600 from the moving company. It sounds pretty good, and I suspect that's as good as I can do, but I was wondering if I could get more money from them for loss of the use of the car (i.e. they pay the car payment this month while it's in the shop!), loss of the car's value (even after repaired it will not be in the same condition), or any punitive damages.

They did some other stuff that is not exactly illegal but its definitely unethical so I'm on a vendetta against them. They really pissed me off and I want to be a thorn in their side for a little while.

Did you have a signed contract for moving the car? What is their liability, if any, stated in the contract. You could take this to court. However, I don't know how much money we are looking at here so I can't tell you whether you can sue in small claims or would have to go to a higher court. On top of that you have to prove your case and win over the judge that you are rightfully due compensation.

Have you sent a certified RRR letter stating that due to the damage their company did that they owe $_____ for (list what you have, etc.) and that they have a certain time frame to respond or you will pursue legal remedy? This would be a good step to see what they will give into, plus bide you some time to see if it is worth your time and money to pursue this in court.
