I just have a question concerning the fact that I have been searched 5 to 6 times as I leave the local Wal-Mart store. It seems to be one certain employee who tracks me and searches me. By searching I mean he asks for my receipt and goes through my purchases to see if they match. I talked to The Wal-Mart Manager and he said it is their job and it is a random search. I have never heard or seen anyone else get searched, what should I do. I live ina small town so there isn't always a choice of where to shop. I understand Sam's club compares the receipt with purchases but this is Wal-Mart. I have never stolen anything in my life, it is actually embarassing to have everyone see this as they leave. It doesn't take long for rumors to start ina small town where everyone knows someone. What can I do, I have talked to the employee, he says he remembers me everytime he searches me, he even so much as admitted to me that he thinks I am or will going to stael something. I talked to the manager and he says I should be searched. What can I do?? I feel it is due to the way I look and dress.

We go to wal-mart alot and get our bags searched all the time.We dont steal either.Waiting for my husband out by the exit one time ,I saw about 20 peoples bags being searched .It can be a pain .We make jokes about it sometimes,by looking at them and when they come over to check, we run off.Like were guilty! They dont do it anymore,It took about 3 times.I think they get tired of chasing after us!

I live in San Francisco, CA and I was recently forced from leaving a store until I agreed to show the door attendant my receipt. It seems to me that I am being searched without any justification.
This happened to me in one other store, and when I complained and insisted on talking to the manager, the manager told me that they do not legally have the right to stop me. However, in the more recent incident, the manager told me that they did have the right to stop me and search me. So, who is right??

Is this legal? Can a store force me to stay in their store when they have no suspicion that I have shoplifted??

The Walmart in our area routinely checks receipts against items in bag. I also find this annoying...

I now go to Target or other similar store.
