There is a bench warrent in the state of Kentucky for my boyfriend but it doesn't show up on the computer system when he is pulled over from speeding. He failed to show up for the court date on drug charges and the lawyer we paid said for him to just not go into the state. Is that true? Will it never bother him if he doesn't go back or can it show up unexpectedly?
We currently reside in NE Pennsylvania.

Sometimes, agencies share databases. After many years, he can still be arrested then he would have to state that it should be dismissed because of time limitations for the state to bring forth formal charges.

 It might also be important to save your reciept of payment from your lawyer and record the date that you were given his advise. "You did what you were suppose to by seeking legal council and have merely been following the legal advise given", if that is in fact what he advised you of. I was almost held in contempt of court for not making court ordered payments on a very large county bill. I explained that my attorney had instructed me not to make anymore payments until I was re-directed to do so by the court so I did not. The Judges statement to me was exactly what I quoted above.

I'm not sure if it's relevant to your case. I just didn't think it would hurt to mention it.

Good Luck!!!!!!! callmekami

 perhaps you could engage in some postal or e-mail correspondence with the attoney and possibly get him to make written comments to that effect so that you would have a "hard-copy" of it if the occasion ever arises when you might need it in court.

redheadrascal I would hesitate to just blow this off. When I moved to NE PA in '95, I tested for and recieved a PA drivers license. A few months later my license was suspended due to outstanding non-moving violation tickets from VA issued in '88(and I had a NJ license when the tickets were issued). I wasn't even aware of the suspension until a routine check at a DUI check point. I was detained for over 4 hours for driving with a suspended license. Needless to say,the legal headaches where not worth it!! Your situation is different, but these things have a way of coming back to haunt you. Find out if there is a way to reconcile this with KY. Perhaps if the drug charges are minor, the prosecutor and judge will look favorably on a good faith effort on your boyfriends part.

callmekami Did you still have to pay the county bill, even though you were not found in contempt?
